Xin Liu is founder and president of Enlight Foundation, which focuses on education equality, improving youth mental wellbeing, engaging young leaders in developing climate solutions, and investing in next-generation social change makers globally. To create systemic change, Xin invests in young people, elevates youth voices, working collaboratively with other foundations, researchers, and nonprofits.
Xin is also founder and director of Xinhe Foundation in China, which focuses on supporting scientific research and practices on improving early childhood development, rural reading programs in primary schools, as well as programs groom youth leaders.
Xin’s philanthropy is motivated by her optimism and deep convictions that young people must be empowered to lead the way to a more sustainable future and that collaborative efforts among stakeholders are essential in solving the big issues we face today.
Prior to funding and leading the Enlight Foundation, Xin Liu was an award-winning writer and photojournalist both in China and the United States. Her work has been published in China Youth Daily, Baltimore Sun, Miami Herald, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Palm Beach Post, Time Magazine, Fortune Magazine, and more. More recently, she published two books in China: At the Still Point of the Turning World and Become One with the Dust.
Xin serves as an advisory committee member of The Natural Capital Project, board member of Art of the Piano, Magical Bridge Playground, and more. In her spare time, she enjoys playing golf, traveling for deep learning, reading, and fitness training as a Virgin Galactic Future Astronaut.
