NEW YORK – Dec. 3, 2019 – Co-presenters China Institute and Yue-Sai Kan China Beauty Charity Fund proudly announce that the fifth annual China Fashion Gala will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at The Plaza Hotel. The annual celebration of Chinese design serves as a platform for Chinese talent emerging onto the international stage, as well as a forum for recognizing individuals whose contributions have helped position China at the forefront of global fashion and beauty.
This year’s gala will honor Estée Lauder with the Beauty Award for their global excellence and extraordinary achievement in China. This inaugural award will be accepted by Global Brand President Stephane de La Faverie. Chinese investor, entrepreneur and philanthropist Wendy Yu will be honored with the Millennial Leadership Award for her support of emerging talent. Chinese designer Xiong Ying will showcase her creations under the Heaven Gaia label for the first time in the US with a runway presentation. The evening will also include a cocktail reception, dinner, performance, awards ceremony and auction.
The China Fashion Gala 2020 will be hosted by Yue-Sai Kan, Founder and Chairwoman of Yue-Sai Kan China Beauty Charity Fund (CBCF); emerging designer Mark Gong; and potentially others to be announced in future releases.
Proceeds from the event will help support the Yue-Sai Kan CBCF Scholarship at the Fashion Institute of Technology, the CBCF Executive Education Program in Sustainable Fashion in partnership with WeDesign, which prepares leaders of Chinese fashion and textile companies to integrate sustainability for future success, as well as China Institute’s Fashion Initiative including a Fashion Design Competition Award established to support young designers and promote creativity inspired by China.
Past China Fashion Gala honorees include Jason Wu, Angelica Cheung, Dee Poon, Christian Louboutin, Vivienne Tam, Maggie Q, Tiffany & Co. just to name a few. The gala is known to have debuted works by outstanding Chinese designers Guo Pei and Grace Chen, as well as photographer Chen Man.
