Co-Vice Chair of the board of China Institute in America
Sophia Sheng has been a supporter of China Institute for over 25 years. With her construction experience she has spent 12 years renovating the 50,000 sq feet of China Institute space at 100 Washington Street. The ground floor 6,000 sq ft was renovated into a multifunction space that is conducive to exhibits and catering.
The heart of the ground floor space is a Chinese Culinary Center with 2 kitchen – a western and a Chinese kitchen, where high quality Chinese banquet showcasing different regions of Chinese food will be served. The center will also provide cooking lessons, pop up restaurants, food fairs and food competitions. The aim of the Culinary Center is to elevate and promote quality Chinese food.
Sophia is also a collector of contemporary art and chairs the China Institute Gallery Committee.
