This Summer, China Institute in America offers studio classes in the areas of traditional Chinese art including calligraphy, brush painting, as well as meditation classes including tai chi and qigong.
Our classes are not only designed to improve the tactile experiences and haptic perception of the students, but they also focus on enhancing students’ mental and physical strength that multiple researches have shown to provide long-term health benefits.
“Tai chi is often described as “meditation in motion,” but it might well be called “medication in motion.” There is growing evidence that this mind-body practice, which originated in China as a martial art, has value in treating or preventing many health problems. And you can get started even if you aren’t in top shape or the best of health.” – Harvard Health Publishing, Harvard Medical School
All classes at China Institute in America are conducted and taught by accredited instructors internationally-renowned in their respective field of training. Browse below for detailed class descriptions and instructor bios.

Learning Mandarin online with the China Institute has been a great experience. My small class with an experienced, knowledgeable and caring instructor has been superb.
I have tried several teachers in the area I live, none of them were as thoughtful and encouraging as the tutors I found thru the China Institute. Absolutely 100% a recommend, the flexibility of the online system and the professionalism of the teachers has been outstanding.
I was told the best Chinese language classes in NYC are at the China Institute. So I registered to take both weekly classes AND private classes. The staff and teachers are truly professional and absolutely first class! I am forever grateful!
