This initiative not only aims to illuminate the challenges, triumphs, and contributions of Asian women in various domains but also seeks to foster a vibrant networking environment where participants can connect, share insights, and inspire one another. By emphasizing their impact on culture, economy, and leadership, “Empowering Voices” provides a unique platform for Asian women to engage in meaningful dialogue, exchange ideas, and cultivate professional relationships.

Amy Y. Zhang

Amy is Executive Vice President and Portfolio Manager of the Alger Small Cap Focus, Alger Mid Cap Focus, Alger Mid Cap 40 and Alger Small Cap Growth Strategies. She joined Alger in 2015 and has 28 years of investment experience.

Amy was named one of the “Top Female Managers” by Morningstar in 2023, one of the "Best Female PMs to Invest with Now" by Morningstar in 2022 and one of the “Top 20 Female Portfolio Managers” by Citywire in 2021, 2019 and 2018. In 2022, she was included on the Forbes 50 over 50: Money list. In 2021, she won the Women in Asset Management “Active US Equity Manager of the Year” award. In 2019, she was a “Women to Watch” honoree by Investment News. In 2018, she was named a “Top Women in Asset Management” by Money Management Executive and one of The Wall Street Journal’s “Best Stock-Fund Managers” given the strong performance of her portfolios.

Amy has been featured and quoted in a number of publications such as: The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, The Financial Times, The New York Times, Citywire, Investor’s Business Daily, Bloomberg, Business Insider, Investment News, MarketWatch, China Business Network, Xinhua, Forbes, CNBC and CNN.

Amy earned her B.A. from Manhattanville College, where she graduated summa cum laude. She earned her M.B.A. from Columbia Business School.

Chen Wang

Dr. Chen Wang is a Chinese pianist who has been giving performances in numerous countries. She is a Vice President of the arts of the Young Global Leadership Foundation (New York), a Vice Chairman and guest artist of Australian International Culture Industries (Sydney), a signed artist with Ivory Classics (California) and ChinaWise USA (Chicago), an arts education program manager of China Center of Education at Columbia University (New York), and a member of the expert committee of the China Association for Promoting Children’s Culture and Art (Beijing).

Ms. Wang holds a doctorate degree in Piano Performance. As an international award-winning pianist, she has given performances in Carnegie Hall, the Netherlands Concertgebouw, Jordan Hall, National Center of Performing Arts in China, Beijing Concert Hall, Asian Music Festival, SCIPP Festival, Musique 21, and PASIC festival throughout the United States, Asia, and Europe. In 2022, Ms. Wang performed three times at Carnegie Hall in New York, TONY and Award-Winning Broadway Producer of “Passing Strange”, Vasi Laurence states: “Her playing is powerful and compelling and transports you on a very visceral level from deep reflection and calm to feeling joyful and exultant...Chen is a fascinating and unique pianist who mesmerized the audience for ninety minutes.” Ms. Wang’s performances and interviews have been heard on hundreds of media outlets, such as Google News, Apple News, New York Celebrity Bulletin, Good News Network, Boston Asian Radio & TV, China Central TV, Hong Kong TV, Beijing TV, China Daily, Association relative à la télévision européenne (ARTE France), and Australian ABC media. She was invited to be filmed as a real-life musician in a documentary film Return to the Red Flag Canal in 2019, The documentary received Best History Documentary Award at Golden Tree International Documentary Film Festival in France and "Five Ones Project" award in China, along with over a dozen other awards. The book that narrates Chen Wang’s life story BianZhiYaoLan (Woven Cradle) was published by China Radio Broadcast and Television Press.

Jenny Zhang

Jenny is a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs and heads the Portfolio, Pricing and Analytics team for Marcus Consumer Savings & Invest business. She is responsible for rate setting, modeling, data driven strategy and analytics to grow Marcus' US products and customer base. Jenny serves on the steering committee for the Asian Network's New York/Jersey City chapter. Prior to her current role, she served as the Marcus US and UK Deposits Finance lead in Financial Planning & Analysis, and before that, in the Regulatory Capital & Review Group in Controllers.

Jenny earned a BS in Mathematics and Economics from the University of California San Diego and an MS in Management Science and Engineering from Columbia University.

Lori Chen

Lori Chen is CEO of KyoVest, a blockchain company that helps people build wealth in the digital marketplace. She is a former corporate executive and has established her career in the financial services industry for over 22 years. She has extensive wealth management experience with some of the top companies in the U.S., including JP Morgan Chase, HSBC, PNC, MetLife, UBS, and Wells Fargo. Her areas of expertise include business development, team recruitment and development, high net worth client management, and comprehensive financial planning. She holds FINRA Series 7, 9, 10 & 66, and completed the Certified Financial Planner curriculum. She is fluent in Mandarin, and conversant in two Chinese dialects.

Lori is very active in the Asian-Ameircan community and serves as chairwoman of the board at National Association of Asian American Professionals NYC Chapter. She co-founded Asian Mosaic Fund Giving Circle as well as the National Association of Asian American Professionals Philadelphia Chapter. In addition, she served on the Board of Asian American Women’s Coalition, American Cancer Society Asian Advisory Committee, and the Community Advisory Council at Fox Chase Cancer Center.

Lori has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing from DeSales University and a MBA in Marketing from La Salle University. Born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan, Lori has made NYC her second home.

Susan is Director of Programs at China Institute in America.  Before joining CI, Susan was the Editor in Chief of Bitpush News, a leading block chain media based in New York and a columnist for the Financial Times Chinese Edition. Throughout her journalism career, Susan conducted interviews with a multitude of world economic and political leaders, including Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, Alan Greenspan, Paul Volker, President Clinton, Zbigniew Brzeziński, Michael Bloomberg, Thomas Friedman, and many more.  Susan has also directed the documentary series “World Movers” which was released in March 2018. It illustrated the emerging new world order 70 years after WWII, shedding light on what has changed the U.S. and the world and the forces affecting everyone. It focused on the relationships between technology and globalization, the impact on immigration, and the future of U.S.-China relations.
