夏志清先生（1921.2.18—2013.12.29）是海外中国现代文学研究开山式的重量级学者，在海内外中国文学研究界有着广泛而持久的影响。值此夏先生逝世十周年纪念之际，华美人文学会于美东时间12月29日晚8时至9时半（北京时间12月30日早9时至10时半）特邀夏志清先生的研究者季进教授做专题讲座，回顾夏先生的生平、学术历程，反思其贡献与意义，以此表达深切的怀念之情。
本讲座结合夏志清与兄长夏济安的往来书信，重新回顾夏志清的学术历程，梳理其学术谱系，着重介绍其早年的英文著述与博士论文，辨析夏志清的欧美文学训练与其后来的中国现代文学研究，在“新批评”立场、世界文学视野以及人文主义精神等方面的内在联系。夏志清以世界文学经典为准绳，始终追求普适性的审美标准，实践文本细读的方法，显示了中西文学对话与互补的可能性。无论是欧美文学研究，还是中国文学研究，夏志清总是坚守自己的立场，忠实于道德的视景，尊重人的尊严与自由，表现出人文主义者的胸襟与情怀。这些方面都彰显了夏志清之于海内外中国现代文学研究的独特贡献与巨大意义。

Dr. Ji Jin is a professor at the School of Literature, Suzhou University, where he also serves as the Director of the Overseas Sinology (China Literature) Research Center. As the Chief Expert of Major Projects for the National Social Science Fund, his primary research focus is modern and contemporary Chinese literature and its global dissemination.
With a notable body of work, Professor Ji Jin has authored key works such as "Qian Zhongshu and Modern Western Learning" and "An Overview of Modern Chinese Literature Research in the English-speaking World." He is recognized for his comprehensive understanding of literary landscapes.
An influential editor, Professor Ji Jin has led or co-led various projects, including the annotated "Letters of Tsi-an Hsia and C.T. Hsia" in five volumes. His editorial roles extend to translations of Western modern literary criticism and translations of overseas modern Chinese literature studies.
季进，苏州大学文学院教授、博士生导师，兼任苏州大学海外汉学（中国文学）研究中心主任，国家社科基金重大项目首席专家。主要研究方向为中国现当代文学及其海外传播研究，代表性著作有《钱钟书与现代西学》《另一种声音》《英语世界中国现代文学研究综论》《季进文学评论选》《文学的摆渡》等，编注有《夏志清夏济安书信集》（五卷本）。主编或合作主编有“西方现代批评经典译丛”、“海外中国现代文学研究译丛”以及《世界主义的人文视景》《当代人文的三个方向》《文学赤子》等文集。
