2024 China Educational Leadership Study Tour and Exchange

The China Educational Leadership program, created by the China Institute in America in collaboration with the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE), offers American educators in leadership positions a transformative 10-day study tour.

This program aims to cultivate and revitalize connections between K-12 schools in the U.S. and China. Participants will gain a contemporary perspective on China and its educational system, fostering new relationships and accessing valuable resources for future educational endeavors. Additionally, the program provides a platform for the exchange of ideas with Chinese educational leaders, facilitating meaningful dialogue on critical issues in K-12 education.

PROGRAM DETAILS

Dates: 
October 26 – November 4, 2024 (in-country dates)

Program Cost:

  • In-country program cost is fully covered for each participant
  • Participant needs to pay for international travel related expenses including airfare, visa, and health insurance.

Eligibility:
The program welcomes superintendents, principals, assistant principals, and other educational leaders from accredited K-12 schools and school districts in the U.S., as well as eligible members of education and cultural organizations.

PROGRAM LEADER

Shenzhan Liao 廖申展

With advanced degrees from Teachers College, Columbia University, and Beijing Normal University, Ms. Liao has been a dedicated member of the China Institute in America since 2008. With 18 years of professional experience in education, Ms. Liao oversees the Institute’s educational programs, which include language and cultural learning for students of all ages, professional development, and study tours for K-12 educational leaders, teachers, and students. She designs, moderates, and produces both online and onsite programs covering a wide range of arts, culture, and educational topics related to China. A true believer of cross-cultural understanding and the power of education, Ms. Liao has worked closely with governments, foundations, and individual sponsors to enhance people-to-people exchange between U.S. and China. Passionate about social services, Ms. Liao served on Teachers College Alumni Council from 2014 to 2019 and volunteered for ESL classes at the Queens Public Library in New York from 2019 to 2021.​
