
Shirley Wang

Shirley Wang is the founder and CEO of Plastpro Inc., a fiberglass door manufacturer. Under Mrs. Wang’s leadership, Plastpro was named “Most Innovative” and “Top 100 Manufacturer” by Window and Door magazine. Prior to her entrepreneur career, Mrs. Wang held positions at Citicorp and J. Walter Thompson. In 2022, Mrs. Wang joined the publicly traded REIT, Douglas Emmett Inc. Board of Directors.
In addition to her professional efforts, Mrs. Wang supports numerous charitable and community activities. Through Plastpro, Mrs. Wang supports Habitat for Humanity and provided fiberglass doors for the construction of 100 homes. The company has also donated three technology labs to Ohio public schools.
Mrs. Wang and her husband, Walter, were the first major sponsors of the Emmy-nominated PBS documentary Becoming American: The Chinese Experience by Bill Moyers. Additionally, the Wangs were sponsors for the China AIDS documentary The Blood of Yingzhou District, which won the 2007 Oscar for short documentary. They also supported The Warriors of Qiugang, nominated for the 2010 Oscar and resulted in the Chinese government’s committing $30 million to clean up the toxic waste where the film is set. The Wangs received the China AIDS Initiative award for their support of anti-smoking and AIDS prevention in China that reached over 500 million people.
Since 2008, the Wangs have funded six Asian Pacific American Legal Center lawyers to provide legal services for domestic-violence survivors. The Wangs funded the Walter and Shirley Wang Anti-Asian Hate Project at Asian Americans Advancing Justice Southern California. Mrs. Wang is also a member of Committee of 100.
Mrs. Wang served as first Asian Chairwoman of the UCLA Foundation board and was on the UCLA Centennial Executive Campaign Committee which raised 5.49 billion. The Wangs have funded student scholarships, study abroad programs, and endowed chairs for UCLA. They also endowed a Pediatric Surgery chair and funded 14 Emergency Treatment Rooms for Cedar Sinai Medical Center. Mrs. Wang is a trustee for Columbia University and serves as the Vice Chair of the Alumni Relations and Development Committee. For Columbia, they have funded Walter and Shirley Wang underground link, lounges, and U.S. veteran scholarships. Mrs. Wang is a Harvard Westlake trustee and is the Chair of the Trustees Committee. The Wangs donated to the Harvard Westlake Humanities Building which is now named Wang Hall. The Wangs are trustees of the U.S. Olympic Committee and serve on the LA 2028 Olympic Board of Directors.
Mrs. Wang was honored by the Museum of Chinese Americans in New York, the Asian Pacific American Legal Center Public Service Award, the Asian Business Association Media Advocate Award, the China Institute Blue Cloud Award, the Asia Society Visionary Award, the Anti-Defamation League Humanitarian Award, the Asian American Advancing Justice SoCal Ruby Hero award. Mrs. Wang also received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor for her contributions to America. In 2022, Mrs. Wang was featured in CIO as one of the Most Admired Women Leaders in Business. Mrs. Wang earned an M.B.A. from Columbia University, and a B.A. from UCLA.
