Stella Li joined BYD in 1996 and served as BYD’s Senior Vice President and Executive Director and CEO of BYD Electronics. Founded in 1995 and headquartered in Shenzhen, China, BYD boasts a diverse business scope covering automobiles, rolling stock, new energy, and electronics.
During that time, Ms. Li promoted the enterprise’s global business and international presence, including the establishment of BYD’s Hong Kong Office in 1997, BYD European headquarters in Rotterdam in 1999, and the company’s first North America headquarters in Chicago in 2000. Ms. Li has cemented extensive partnerships for BYD across the globe and in multiple industries and has contributed to the company’s growth as it has become a dominant force and one of the world’s leading brands. Her efforts helped transform the company from its beginnings as a battery manufacturer into the innovative and vibrant multinational powerhouse that BYD is today.
Under Ms. Li’s vibrant leadership and guidance, BYD has expanded its presence to over twenty countries in the Americas, where it has offices in eleven countries, including the United States, Canada, Brazil, Chile, and Colombia.
In addition to her work with BYD America, Ms. Li has been involved in a number of initiatives to promote the adoption of clean energy technologies and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. Ms. Li is also a strong advocate for women’s leadership and has played a key role in promoting diversity and inclusion within the company. She is widely recognized as a role model for other women in the industry, and is a trailblazer for women in leadership positions in the automotive sector.
Ms. Li earned her B.A. in Statistics from Fudan University, one of the top five universities in China.
Ms. Li is widely recognized for her accomplishments and leadership. In 2015, she was invited to speak at the United Nations “Every Woman, Every Child” Global Strategy Conference, making her the only representative of a Chinese enterprise.
