Sally co-founded ScalableVision Capital (ScalableVisioncapital.com) with her husband Hansong Zhang and is its Chief Investment Officer. Building on Sally’s expertise in public market investing and Hansong’s high-tech know-how, this privately held investment company has now evolved into a full-stack, lifecycle investment platform. In addition to direct investments, ScalableVision Capital engages in a broad range of investment activities with some of the world’s best-in-class, often access-constrained financial institutions in public and private markets.
Sally and Hansong are a power couple in Silicon Valley. Sally started her investment career from Morgan Stanley and is a Managing Director of Investment with Oppenheimer & Company. As the only Asian and female Managing Director at Oppenheimer, her presence serves as a symbol of the progress being made towards greater diversity and inclusivity. Hansong is a prominent figure in the tech industry, renowned for his impressive accomplishments as a scientist, entrepreneur, and investor. His expertise in software, architecture, and algorithms for Augmented Reality (AR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) has enabled him to develop and contribute to two multi-billion dollar companies in the United States. On top of their professional accomplishments, they are also proud parents to two beautiful daughters.
Sally and her family thrill at exploring the awe-inspiring natural world and take their greatest joy from feeling present, despite their small size, among the grandeur of the stars, glaciers, canyons, deserts, oceans, and the universe.
Sally embraces Buddhism as a philosophy, she practices meditation, and enjoys art, especially visual arts. Sally and her family identify and support visual art, AAPI community and STEM leadership as their philanthropy causes. Sally is a Board Trustee for the Montalvo Arts Center and is actively involved in Montalvo’s award-winning Lucas Global Artist Residence Program, which hosts one hundred global artists a year. Sally and Hansong are alliance partners of The Asian American Foundation (TAAF). In addition to her personal interests, Sally and her family enjoy hosting intellectuals of different disciplines for thought-provoking conversations.
Sally obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree from the Law School of Fudan University, China. She was a Karla Scherer Scholar and has an MBA from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.
