Gorretti Lo Lui

Mrs. Gorretti Lui’s extraordinary philanthropy is a driving force behind San Francisco’s thriving arts and culture scene. Mrs. Lui is the director of the Lui Foundation and her involvement in numerous arts and culture organizations has contributed immensely to the city’s vibrancy.

Her roles include:

• The Asian Art Museum, San Francisco, City Commissioner, Foundation Trustee, and Secretary of the Foundation’s Executive Board, 1998- to present
• San Francisco Symphony’s Board of Governors, Vice President, 2017-2020
• San Francisco Symphony, Life Governor on the Board, 2022-present
• San Francisco War Memorial Performing Arts Center, Trustee, 2013-present
• San Francisco War Memorial, first Chinese American woman nominated Vice President of the Board, February 2022
• Rose Pak Community Fund, Co-founded and was named Vice President, 2017
• Chinese Historical Society of America, San Francisco, Trustee, April 2018
• “We are Bruce Lee: Under the Sky One Family”- advocated, fundraised and launched this April 2022 exhibition
• The UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) honored Mrs. Lui for her contributions in enriching the lives of women and girls and for providing them with equal opportunity and access to the arts in San Francisco, September 2018
• The Chinese Culture Foundation of San Francisco recognized Mrs. Lui with the Cultural Equity Champion Award at the CCF’s 57th Anniversary Gala in June 2022

Mrs. Lui served as Trustee on the Board of Crystal Springs Uplands School in Hillsborough, California, and was on the Parents’ Advisory Boards of the University of Pennsylvania and Stanford University. 

She obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design from the University of California in Los Angeles.

Mrs. Lui was born in Hong Kong and is married to Lawrence Lui, President at Stanford Hotels Corp. She is a proud mother of three handsome sons and grandmother of three adorable grandchildren, and she enjoys sports and kayaking!
